On the other side of the Nursery lay two large, flat stones. The two of them lean up against each other in an ackward upside-down "V", and together they make up the Medicine Cat's Den. The sides are embedded into the ravine wall, and holes are dug into the earth in the back and lined with small pebbles as a dry place to store herbs. The top of the small Den doesn't provide a lot of shelter from the cold, but ivy and vines found around the territory have been threaded together and placed over the top with leaves and moss to provide a little more protection from the elements. The mist that rolls above the ravine camp collects on the stones and rolls down in droplets, creating a natural pool in the earth to maintain the Medicine Cat with a fresh supply of water when the rapids not far off are too fast to collect from. In hot summers, however, the pool is prone to dry up. [/blockquote]

Twigpaw always thought of this being his favorite den, he snooped and spied around it sniffing it carefully, no one was in it, he poked his head inside. No one, just sweet smelling herbs, the pool and moss beds. He slowly entered the area and sat down in an area away from everything. He drank in the scents, fascinated by how much you can learn and do here. He scented some herbs and quickly recited the first one she knew best, "Yarrow eaves can make any cat sick, and may help any bad things eaten..." he faded away not sure if he was right..."Um...Poppy seeds! Great for healing pains and bringing milk to she-cats in kitting." hissing at the final words he said, "Death berries, bright red may look inviting, but even 2 could kill a poor kitty, few has ever been saved by it's traps of their lives." He glanced around, for some reason, this was so interesting...

"What are you doing?" A voice called calmly from behind the apprentice.
Shrewstar leaned casually against the edge of one of the large tilting walls, his gaze hard but thoughtful as his amber gaze watched Twigpaw. DarkClan didn't have a medicine cat yet, and no cat had approached him with any interest concerning the position. The makeshift den had grown barren and cold with no cat to occupy it and drive off the bitter leafbare chill, and vaguely the tom had a question on his mind. But he'd work up to it.
"Don't knock any of the herbs down, we may need them sometime. Even without a medicine cat here." The dark brown-gray tabby leader felt his tail sway slightly in the breeze, distracting him from his rather hard and stony tone. Living in DarkClan, he was used to having to sound rather strict. "Not like anyone's living here right now." He paused, thinking for a moment. "You know herbs? Not many cats can say that." [/blockquote]

A yowl split the silent dusk air, making a few birds flutter up to the sky in fear, feathers dropping on the grass. A small she-cat limped back to camp as fast as she could, her white fur getting red with blood. Drops of water dropped from her whiskers, and her whole body shook with coldness. Her amber eyes were burning with anger, as she padded into the medicine cats den. The scent of herbs always fastinated her, and sometimes, she would sleep in here, without Shrewstar knowing of course. "Shrewstar, I have a problem." Snowfern mewed, looking at her broken front leg, and the huges scracthes along her, and the cold water dripping onto the moss. "I fell in the rapids, where there was lots of rocks, so i didn't get swept away, but I still got hurt." There was a bit of worry in her eyes, she ws bleeding alot, and they had no medicine cat. "What can I do Shrewstar, I don't want to die."

Twigpaw was startled when the leader spoke, worried of getting in trouble, but he quickly scented blood and hadn't replied to his Leader. He was in the corner grabbing and cob webs he could find. He bundled them in his paw and juggled over to grab poppy seeds.
He handed them to the cat, "These will make you drowsy but it'll ease the pain, and rest will help healing." He was licking out the blood from the pelt and spitting it into a grass bundle, careful not to swallow blood. He cleaned the wounds carefully and could feel the she-cat tense with pain.
He carefully applied the cobwebs quickly before to much blood came. He tried to help, but he wasn't great at the herbs yet. "You're not going to die if I can help it," he tried to reassure the she-cat as he worked to mend her.
He grabbed some dock to help soothe wounds and he grabbed tiny bits of chervil to stop any infect. He grabbed little possible, hoping to heal, but savoring the herbs. "They don't sting much, help a lot." he murmured through the chewing each bit.
That should stop infection, increase healing and stop all bleeding." he replied, "Stay here for a couple of nights then we'll see how-" he sniffed her leg cautiously, "Hmm," he called silently. He hadn't ever treated a bone, but he'd try.

Shrewstar too found himself distracted by the sudden scent of blood that warmed the air and wrinkled his nose. The tom turned to see Snowfern looking injured and near to death, and he blinked in surprise at the extent of her wounds. Although, as soon as he heard her reason behind the disaster he was hardly shocked. Quite a few cats in his lifetime had slipped at the edge of the ravine farther down where the river ran, and crashed through the horrendous rapids. Most stories ended with the cat's death, though, and he found himself a bit stunned for hardly a moment that she'd managed to survive the plunge.
But before the dark brown and gray tabby could think delve much farther, Twigpaw was suddenly alight with action. He took the desperate she-cat and fitted her with the dwindling stock of herbs that lay frozen in the makeshift cupboards, doing his best with them to help Snowfern heal. And really, he did a great job from what he could tell. Shrewstar had been often in trouble as a young apprentice and grew to know the Medicine Cat's Den well in his community service punnishments, and the medicine cat apprentice of that time probably couldn't have done much better herself. Hmm. Perhaps the question that was nagging at him was something worth asking.
As the tom stood there silently at the threshold of the den, however, his cool amber gaze drifted to the white she-cat who lay still while Twigpaw busied himself about her. He was no more than a day shy of his warrior ceremony when Snowfern had moved herself into the Apprentices' Den, but since then he'd always had a crush on the pretty femme. Of course he'd never told her the truth about it; and naturally, the leader had doubts that the warrior felt the same regarding him. [/blockquote]

He was quickly finished looking at the she-cat then looked at Shrewstar, he dipped his head in respect for ignoring his question, "I know what only I have learned, and I know a few tricks in helping." he did know a lot for his age, and was a sharp-sensed cat, but he didn't recognized it. To him, he was a scrap in the warrior world.
Then some emotions drifted through the air and not only was it pain, but a little surprise. Twigpaw had not ever gone near it's clutches but by the loners' stories his mother told him, it was dangerous, thus he had no siblings, no father and a suicidal mother. He thoughts where twisted, yet he lost them soon. He was smart, curious, and forgetting of the past, until love wafted through his nostrils.
It ached in his heart, the memories hurt, lunging at him. He could never love, it would hurt to much, and he wouldn't be able to go through it. He wanted to help, be smart and most of all,be a Darkclan loyal warrior. Now these emotions for some reason only he could detect, maybe it was just sharp senses, or maybe by blocking out his own, he engulfed others, he never will know.

Shrewstar blinked and looked away from the pretty white she-cat, his amber gaze meeting Twigpaw. He was not a very sensitive and couldn't see enough of the apprentice to read an sort of emotion, so he dismissed it. "I'm surprised," He said gruffly, "I had no idea that any cat in DarkCaln knew enough about herbs to do anything around here." He paused, but there was to be no beating around the bush; Shrewstar was a rather blunt cat. "Twigpaw, whould like to be our new medicine cat?"
[ Sorry, it's really short. Dx ]

"I-I'd LOVE to! But I haven't had my naming ceremony yet..." he replied, wouldn't that make him a medicine cat apprentice? He looked as himself, he had a moon of training left, "I'll be medicine cat and still train for my moon." He stated clearly, his fur was tense and hard wit confidence.
His black claws scraped the earth then suddenly hid. His pink nose had a twitch to it and his tail drifted silently. "Shrewstar," he begun, carefully choosing his words, "You like someone." he whispered so only the leader could hear him. His tail stopped moving, his heart dropped, he shouldn't have even thought of it. "You can trust me." he said, cautious if the leader would hate him knowing.
His shattered heart must have healed slightly, because it felt injured again. Nothing could heal his wounds, never would he love someone, which is considered good as a medicine cat, isn't it? His pondering thoughts where scattered, eyes just a reflection, he had no emotion, whatever he was feeling, would never show through his dazed eyes.
((OCC;; I don't care if it's short! I'm glad you even asked me to be Meddie! ;D ! ))

"Don't worry about it," Shrewstar replied immediately. "If you wish to take on the position, you don't have to worry about finishing your training." As far as he was concerned, if Twigpaw was to become medicine cat he could just go and seek StarClan to recieve his full name. Why not? But the dusky brown and gray tabby was relieved to finally have a cat to take the responsibility in DarkClan. Now he could focus on more important things, because healing wasn't his job. Now it was this tom's.
His ears perked, however, as the apprentice leaned in and spoke quietly to him. He liked someone? Of course he did, and Twigpaw had noticed it. However, the leader couldn't bring himself to care who knew. Besides, a medicine cat was supposed to guess these things, weren't they? "Yes, I do," He replied simply, and paused before adding, "I don't care if you know or not. I have no problem with it." The way Shrewstar spoke, it was as if it was absurd for him to care what Twigpaw knew about him. It was no concern of his; what kind of leader hid things from his Clan? The tom was much better than that, and the idea of any cat thinking otherwise sent his pelt bristlign slightly. But he pushed the short burst of hostility away, and cooled down immediately. Twigpaw bowed his head to his leaving leading in respect. It was sure that no on e else seemed to know...Twigpaw just looked at his paws in ache, but he shook his head free. He padded over to the she-cat, "Any better?"
((Sorry, Short post.))
