Two cats lingered in the shadows, identical pairs of green eyes that stared scriutenizingly out from the darkness around them. One set was simply angered by something invisible out beyond the boulder to the tumbling river disgusted by some unknown essence that lay hidden there. Ther other pair, however, were more thoguthful; as they stared out across the river, they were alight with cunning schemes if how to gain revenge on some darkness that hung before them. It was a long time before the frosty bushes around them rustled, and they emerged into the chilly midevening air.
The two cats were strikingly identical in every aspect apart from their physical build, and it was the burly tom who spoke first. "How disgusting this place is," He remarked with a growl. "Let's hurry up here and get back to camp. We've stood around here too many times already." His green narrowed further.
The lithe she-cat beside him, however, did not change ehr thoughtful expression. "Quiet, Speckledfang. You know why we're here." She kep on watching the river, her nose twitching now and then. If they were going to complete their pursuit, they needed to start at the scene of the crime.
"We've searched here so many times before, I don't know what you expect to find that we haven't previously." Speckledfang sighed, impatient. "What we're asking about is something that happened moons ago. Any evidence would be long since washed downstream." But the tortishell didn't move, merely flickering his gaze over to his sister before returning to the view before him.
"We've missed something, certainly." The she-cat replied with her own sigh, and turned towards her brother. If the elder warriors aren't going to aid us here with their knowledge, we'll have to find it on our own. He needs to pay for what he did; you know that."
This made Speckledfang grin, and his green orbs shimmered with excitement -- and patience. "Yes, we will find him one day. That coward cannot hide from us forever. And when we succeed in ddicovering his whereabouts we'll finally have our rightful revenge. I can't say I'm not looking forward to that day. Don't you agree, Spottedfur?"
"Oh yes, I don't think I could deny it myself." Spottedfurl purred, her tortishell fur rippling ans she turned around to face the crashing river again. "We both know she was arrogant, but to think he had the nerve to send her plunging to such a horribe death." After all, if the swirling water didn't drawn a cat, the rapids farther downstream in DarkClan terriroty certainly would do the job. "It will be a glorious day for the two of us."
Speckledfang purred with her also casting another look to the bank, imaging what it must have happened on that day between their parents. "A murder for a murder, and we won't have the liability for an IceClan cat's death like that fool did." He chuckled, excited as ever. "Nobody cares about loners, anyway. Lets hope his banishment has brought him as much suffering as our revenge is sure to carry." A smirk appeard over the tom's features as he imagined it. Thir father's death would be bring their first night of a peaceful sleep. And the sooner his blood soddened their paws, the better. [/blockquote]

His fur glimmered in the sunlight, the dark brown and white blending together beautifully. His dark amber//brown eyes glowd, as he walked down to the fast-flowing river, looking for prey to hunt. The scent of a fresh vole nearby made his paws stop, and he scented the air. He took off, and made a big leap, grunting with the effort. His claws grabbed it, and he killed it right away. With a smile of happiness, Darksky scented the air again, scenting two cats of his clan nearby. "Hello, what are you two up to?"

Two two littermates slowly turned at the sound of a third cat, their identical gazes locking onto their Clanmate. But, both remained expressionless about the council they had held not a moment before.
Spottedfur glanced at the tom and instantaneuouslly remembered his name. Darksky. even if she and her brother has no reason to care about the identities of their Clanmates, the she-cat's calculating and well-trained mind recorded it all anyway. "Hello." She meowed, sounding rather curt with her polite reply. "Don't mind us,"
"We're just enjoying the view." Speckledfang finished his twin sister's sentence, and gave the tom a thin smile. He and Spottedfur had a compulsive habit of completing each other's phrases, something that usually surprised and almost scared other cats. Actually, the reactions were usually entertaining. Putting on his innocent look, the tortishell tom used he and his sister's self-training to hid his real train of thought. [/blockquote]

'Enjoying the view...' Darksky thought, narrowing his amber eyes, it didn't seem very likely, but he wouldn't bother the two cats. His gaze went over each one, he sometimes felt awkward talking to Spottedfur and Speckledfang, them being twins, and looking exactly alike. The only way he could tell them apart was by the scent on their fur, and their voices. There was a moment of awkward silence, and Darksky looked at his paws.

The moment of silence dragged on for a minute, and Spottedfur took a moment to study the tom before her. Clearly he had doubts about how truthful they were being, and she felt a brief flicker of amusement at Darksky's behavior. Did she and her brother bother other IceClan cats? She found it rather funny whenever she saw that look. Yes, she and Speckledfang were set apart from the rest; their feuding parents had done a majority of that during their kithood. But once their father puched their mother over they very river ledge that lay behind them, the twins had had enough. They were visibly angry and hostile until they learned to control their emotions to their advantage as apprentices, and even after the passing of moons cats still didn't trust them. Of course, that was no concern to her.
Speckledfang followed the same general train of thought, but he was more of a physical being and broke the silence with a small misplaced cough. "Don't let us bother you." He finally meowed in his lower voice, smooth and collected. Still, he and his sister revelaled no more than the innocent look of interest on their faces. "You know, our mother died here,"
"And we're just reminiscing about it, I suppose." This time it was Spottedfur who completed her brother's sentence. Every cat who was their age and older could remember how their father, Maplestorm, had come back to camp one evening with poorly washed off crimson on his claws and a shaken success on his features, claiming that his mate had "accidentally fallen into the river". The lie was perfectly obvious in every aspect, though, and their leader wasted no time in banishing the tom from the Clans. THe littermates hedn't liked either of their parents in the first place, but everybody could remember that day. Surely Darksky would, too. [/blockquote]

Even though Darksky hadn't been born in time for Speckledfang's and Spottedfur's mothers death, he had heard stories from his mother, and the elders in the nursery. "You two are thinking of revenge, right?" He mewed softly, what other exclaimation could there be? The tom knew, of course, any cat knowing of Maplestorm murdering his mate would be angry, but his kits would be mad beyond relief. If anybody killed Darksky's mother, he would try and track them down, why would the two twins be any different?

Darksky was right about his assumption, of course, and Spottedfur took half a moment to ponder over a reply. It was clear in the tom's amber gaze that he was rather understanding of the idea, but she knew other cats wouldn't be. Even if IceClan was one of the darker Clans, some cats wouldn't fancy seeing two young warriors run off to kill their own father. But after a brief pause, the tortishell she-cat replied. "We would like to, yes," She replied with a polite shrug, "But we may just go talk to him. See why our father would want to do such a thing." Of course, it wasn't a complete lie. The two of them would have liked to confront their father for revenge -- but hey had every intention to. But Spottedfur was an expert at disguise, and hid ehr deception well. It'd be interesting to see what the younger warrior would say.
Speckledfang just nodded, not really feeling as though he had anything worth adding. He too hid the lie behind his unchanging expression, merely twitching his nose as a small breze tickled it. Clearly this tom could see why they would want to kill Maplestorm; but he had no idea how badly their need seared their veins. Darksky had never sat there helplessly, mewling feebly for milk as their parents yelled and hissed hostile words at each other. He had no idea what it was like to see your father that you hated but loved by instinct pad warily into camp, smelling like the horrible tang of blood and being convicted with the murder of his own mate. No, he wouldn't have to go through that. Lucky him. [/blockquote]

Darksky opened his mouth to say something, but kept it shut. He was not going to get into a stupid little fight with two older warriors, even if they were lying to him. Instead, he just shrugged, and mewed, "It's a cold day out, isn't it?" It was not the most creative thing to say, but it might have been enough to distract Speckledfang and Spottedfur from getting angry with him.

[blcokquote]Spottedfur, feeling the tension of the casual conversation, sat down in one graceful motion and began to lick a forepaw. Did Darksky thin they were angry or upset? The she-cat gave her brother a quick glare. Maybe he let something slip; she certainly hadn't. She loved her brother dearly -- as much a a cat with her harsh past could -- but sometimes he could get rather annoying. But as soon as she had the thought, it passed away and she smiled at the tom before her. "Yes, it is." She meowed, her green gaze wandering briefly as she looked around for a bit of emphasis.
"It's warmer than it was earlier this Leafbare, however. It's a wonder more cats didn't contract Whitecough or Greencough." Speckledfang added with a nod. He caught his sister's look easily, but didn't let himself react. Now was not a good time to slip up, and he felt rather embarrased to have let himself do such a thing. Of course, he carefully his that as well as he contributed to the conversation. Hopefully he hadn't offended Darksky or anything; not like he was really too concerned about it, though.[/blockquote]
